***SPOILERS...maybe a few***
An entertaining story of Callie Taylor a 31-year-old schoolteacher who suddenly discovers the father that she’s never known, that she’d been told who died before she was born, is actually alive. And not only that, but he’s a wealthy senator running for president. This is the story of how the celebrity of her newfound father turns her quiet, happy life into an upheaval.
I gravitated to Callie’s character. She is an intelligent down-to-earth, every day homegirl, happy in her mediocre world. She has no intention of knowing this father whom she just found out is actually alive. She has no intention of meeting him or her half-siblings or establishing a relationship. Quite the contrary she’s happy to live her life away from any notoriety. But the father wants to meet her so here we go. Despite her discomfort and misgivings, she eventually consents to a meeting.
The story picks up some romance when 32 y/o Dylan Talbot (stepson to her dad), is commissioned to be the spokesperson and go-between for her father.
I liked this fun but unoriginal story of Callie and Dylan...on opposite ends of the socially wealthy spectrum, who fight a mutual attraction...(each for their own valid reasons). He is enlisted to be a spy of sorts, to find out if she has any ulterior motives against her father. And because he genuinely likes Callie, the guilt trip Dylan harbors doesn’t sit well. It was a cute, predictable story. You can see the massive tornado a’comin’ a mile away. Each character has the usual emotional damage to overcome. Their inner dialogue is timed and conveyed nicely. The narration is balanced nicely with witty dialogue. Good sentence structure and no editing issues. It’s always a relief to read an author who knows their English. Told dual POV 3rd person. An overall enjoyable, lightweight read. Very PG-PG13.

The Teacher Billionaire The Sherbrookes of Newport Book 1 edition by Christina Tetreault Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

So the title on this one is misleading I think. I was not expecting so much depth and feeling in this book bewteen the two MC’s. Especially as it was a two-fer; billionaire and step-brother romance.

The whole long lost daughter thing was a nice touch to the story. It gave an added layer so the romance didn’t fall flat. The slow and steady part of the romance between Callie and Dylan made up for the title and cover. TBH, they were both wanting.

Callie was bit too introverted for my tastes. A bit too stereotypical school marm. But I did like how she didn’t let her heart completely rule. She was a bit a loner, an old soul. She had a great head on her shoulders and was always analyzing everything from all angles, even ones that didn’t benefit her, which was both nice and too nice. She took her time getting to know her father but the whole thing seemed a bit sterile to me. Like neither side seemed to interested in getting to know the other but rather how Callie would effect his running for president.

Enter Dylan. Dylan was a skeptic and very loyal to his step-father so when he was tasked with finding out more about this long lost daughter he quickly accepted. But I didn’t get the impression his loyalty was due to love on his part, but rather obligation since the guy basically took care of him his whole life. We never really got to see any bonding moments between them so I wasn’t a big believer the ‘realness’ of their relationship. Yeah, he was a smart businessman but that really has no bearing on their relashionship and it seemed as if it was supposed to.

Now the progressionof their relationship was the best part of this book. Dylan and Callie’s attraction and chemistry seemed effortless to me. Accept when Callie got in her own heads a few times. But other than that it was a slwo simmer romance that made mem smile and thats all I really wanted from this book.
Ugh, I didn’t like it but didn’t hate it. There were times where I thought the plot concept and the chemistry was really good and then there were times where there was some serious glossing over of potential character development between Callie and her new found family. At least it was not over the top sappy and no insta-sex. I liked Callie’s character the best. What I really did not like the most... (potential spoiler) was the last couple of chapters where after all the tears and “misunderstandings” they patched the relationship in like 30 seconds of conversation and got engaged. Really? What about all those fears and hang ups they both had, why does putting a ring on it just melt all the hurt. What about the father’s reaction?( *****done with spolier) Ending was so lame and rushed, just cannot understand why the author could not finish the book properly. Biggest complaint over this genre in general, this one being no different. Thanks.
I really loved this book. It had everything, romance, fun, touching moments, well written love scenes, family. Really an enjoyable book. Never put it down sort of book. Very tasteful for any reader.
******SPOLIER ALERT******A nice sweet story. A true romance novel with no, (I MEAN NOT ONE) sexual scene. All is left to the imagination. The ending felt as if it was rushed to get to the HEA. The h meets the H who happens to be her step brother after she finds out the father she never met and thought was deceased was alive and a prominent political figure. The H was asked to keep an eye on her to ensure she had no ill motives concerning her Father. The usual they fell for one another but neither wanted to admit. The H is a Billionaire and the h is a working class that doesn't feel she's good or pretty enough for the tall dark and utterly handsome rich H. They split from what neither wanted to admit was a relationship and soon after got back reacquainted to quickly confess there love for one another and married. The end
